A few select recent or key arts and culture programs include:

Art is Education, Young Audiences of Northeast Ohio

Young Audiences offers Art is Education in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. The program offers schools arts-infused learning through teaching artists residencies with professional arts organizations that may include assemblies, student performances and field trips. The program includes professional development opportunities and out-of-school time programs. Philliber is working to evaluate the outcomes the program achieves and building evaluation capacity of program staff and teachers through training and technical assistance.

Cleveland Play House Assistance for Arts Education Development and Dissemination, US Department of Education

Cleveland Play House, in partnership with LEA Cleveland Metropolitan School District, uses theatre integrated lessons and self-curated, digital learning labs to increase academic readiness and literacy learning while developing essential theatre skills for students living in poverty. The original Compassionate Arts Remaking Education (CARE) program expanded to include supplemental curriculum specifically for students encountering multiple adverse childhood experiences or chronic trauma leading to Emotional and Behavioral Disorders. Expected outcomes include increased student achievement in theatre, SEL and ELA with a specific focus on improvements for students experiencing chronic trauma or diagnosed with emotional or behavioral disorders; increased teacher capacity to redefine classroom culture and safety; and replicable project components. The evaluation is a quasi-experimental design incorporating student theatre assessments, curriculum analysis, and tracking of student SEL and test scores.

Rockin’ the Schools, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum worked with Philliber to create an evaluation design, protocol, and instruments for its Rockin’ the Schools program in Cleveland. Philliber produced an evaluation manual including needed data collection instruments and then analyzed data for the Rock Hall through a pretest year and revision.

STEAM Programs in Walnut Valley, Dramatic Results.

Dramatic Results’ STEAM program is designed to integrate theater education into math and science curriculum. Students experience hands-on, performance arts projects that foster interest and skills in STEAM, while also building life skills such as creativity and perseverance. STEAM programming was provided to all second graders in the Walnut Valley Unified School District in the 2018-2019 school year. The evaluation used a descriptive design and covered the quality of program delivery, program reach, student progress in the development of habits of success, theatre skills, academics, and 21st century skills (such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration). In addition to this program, Philliber has evaluated many other programs for Dramatic Results.
