Dr. Emma Kaywin (they/them) has over a decade of experience as a development professional, writing government and foundation grants for a variety of clients including hospitals, health and human services nonprofits, educators, and artists. They have written grants alongside Philliber since 2020, taking on the role of Director of Development in 2023, and have worked in a variety of fields including teen pregnancy prevention, consent, safer spaces, trauma, education, HIV/AIDS, a range of health topics, and anti-stigma in a variety of fields. They hold an EdD and Masters in Health Education with a focus on sex ed and sexual safety from Columbia University. At Philliber, they identify evaluation proposal opportunities, provide grant writing services, conduct qualitative data collection and analysis, lead internal and external trainings, and more.
Both in and out of their role at Philliber, Emma is an activist for trauma-informed sexual safety, particularly in their home community of Brooklyn, as well as nationally. They are adept at using their background as a mediator and educator to facilitate community healing and growth within the LGBTQIA+ community and beyond.
